Review: The Three little Pigs

The Three Little Pigs

  • Publisher: Schwager & Steinlein
  • number of pages: 64
  • Part of a series: Yes —there are many books of the series called „Englisch hören und lesen“
  • Contents:
There are three little pigs. One day their mother tells them to leave home and discover the world on their own. So the three brother have to find a home and build houses. The first one builds his home out of straw, the second takes sticks and the last one decides to use bricks. Everything would be much more easy if there wasn´t the wolf.
  • Review:
I liked the book very much, but the CD is not so good. I think the text is read out too fast to be understood by those children, who do not have English as their mother tongue. The pages are wonderfully colored and the font is big enough even for young readers. The pictures are very funny and make it easy to understand what happens, even if your English isn´t that good. That’s why I think, it is a good book for learners of English. Especially teachers and adults will be happy about the translation at the end of the book and both children and adults will love the puzzles and littles tasks and games on the last pages. That helps to remember the content of the story in a very funny and special way. I can recommend the book if you don´t want to use it together with the CD.

Review: Elmer again

  • Publisher: Andersen Press (Verlag an der Este)
  • Number of pages: 30
  • Part of a series: Yes —there are many books about Elmer, the patchwork elephant.
  • Contents:
Elmer, the patchwork elephant, is bored. It is the day before the day when all the other elephants paint themselves in different colors. All elephants are thinking about how they want to look like, all except Elmer – he will paint himself grey as he does every year. But while walking around Elmer has an new idea to make this day special again, especially for him and make a fool of the other elephants.
  • Review:
I love Elmer and I love this story about him, too. I think there will be no story with this wonderful elephant which I don´t like. As alway the pictures are beautiful and the story very nice with a little surprise. And like we know it from the other stories about Elmer he teaches us again what it means to be special and unique. I am sure, that adults and children will love this book in the same way, so I can only recommend this book to you.

Rezension:Der unheimliche Passagier/ Review: The Mysterios Passenger

Woods Delaney – Der unheimliche Passagier / The Mysterious Passenger

Das Buch stammt aus einem Dreierpack sog. „Sprachen – Lernkrimi – Englisch“.

A funny book, which helps me train my English and read a exciting story at the same time. I can recommend this book to other people, who want to become better in Englisch, too.

  • Review:
I have read this book on and off for several weeks now. At the last weekend, me and my boyfriend decided to quit, although we had not finished it. We think it is just too boring. Everythink is decribed great detail and so it seems as if nothing really happend for long parts of the book. Maybe it would not have been not the same ift we have read this story in German and not in English, but I am not sure. So I can´t recommend this book to other readers. The first part was wonderfull, the second was okay, but the third part is boring and I don´t think we´ll ever finish it or read the next  part of the series.

I really love all books of Elmer, because of the beautiful pictures an the funny stories. Her it is a wonderfulls story about how strong we can be if we work together and that nothing must be frightened  if you have friends like Elmer and a good idea. I think children and adults will love this story!

  • Contents:

He tells them about Rose, a little pink elephant, who has gotten lost. Elmer an Wilbur help her to find back to her herd and find out that normal is only the way you think of it.
  • Review:
I love all books of this wonderful elephant, but this one I think is the one I like best, because of Rose and the special way her story is told. In my opinion it is a good book to teach children what being different means and that it is only in the way we think. The pictures of the book are as  beautiful as in all the other books on Elmer and make you like it even more (if that is possible). I can recommend it to all people, not only the little ones.
